The organisation’s main activities are the management of Children’s Home for orphans and destitute children. At present we have 77 residential children in our home. 30 residential children go to the organisation’s primary school (Shishu Shorgho Montessori School). Others go to different schools and colleges etc Al-Haz Yakub Ali School & Colleges, Saraipara City Corporation School and Colleges, Chittagong Mohila Polytechnic College, Chittagong Polytechnic Institute, Institute of Health Technology Chittagong and Textile Vocational Institute Chittagong.

Besides The Orphanage Home, ‘‘Shishu Shorgho” has four supporting activities. These are

  1. Shishu Shorgho Montessori School.
  2. Shishu Shorgho Health Clinic.
  3. Soya Milk Program.
  4. Shishu Shorgho Education Support Program.

Shishu Shorgho Montessori School.

This school is an exceptional school where two methods are followed for giving lessons. One is Montessori Method which is based on self–directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play method. The other is the kindergarten/traditional method. In this school, apart from the children of Shishu Shorgho, children from low-income communities
surrounding our Home get the opportunity of education. This school has 7 classes from Play to class four. Along with education, children are given computer training and free coaching every day after school. In addition, children who come to school from outside are given Tiffin and lunch. Note that the cost of education for all the children in this school is borne by Shishu Shorgho.

Shishu Shorgho Health Clinic.

Along with home children and staff, mothers and children from neighborhoods area get free treatment from this centre 2 days in a week. One day homoeopathic and the other day allopathic services are provided. Free medicine is also provided from this centre.

Soya Milk Program.

Soya milk is a plant-based drink produced by soaking and grinding soybeans, boiling the mixture, and filtering out remaining particulates.
This is an effort to ensure low cost protein for young children and adolescents. This milk is mainly made from soya bean. This high quality finished drink/milk is made every day which is a very high quality finished drink. This milk is also used to make Tofu, Halwa and Okara vegetables, which are especially helpful in supplementing protein deficiency in children. All of these meals are given to school children in addition to the children in the home.

Shishu Shorgho Education Support Program.

It is basically an educational project for poor meritorious students in schools, colleges and university on a small scale. At present all the education expenses of 40 students are borne under this program. All these students do not stay in the children’s home. They basically stay with their families.
